Australian Heritage Festival 2017: ‘Forgotten Stories’ at the Old Melbourne Gaol

Join us on Wednesdays and Saturdays throughout the Australian Heritage Festival for guided tours of the Old Melbourne Gaol and surrounds. Tours will explore the existing cell block, as well as reveal forgotten stories from the developed sites around the gaol.

The Old Melbourne Gaol closed in 1924 and all but one cell block were converted for modern use. Join our friendly tour guides for a guided tour during the Heritage Festival to discover the ‘forgotten stories’ from the former justice precinct. Visitors will be guided through the existing cell block of the Old Melbourne Gaol and then taken on a broader tour of the precinct to learn about how these areas were used; see where prisoner’s escaped from and identify hidden features in the surroundings of the gaol which tell us stories of the past. Join us Wednesdays and Saturdays throughout the Heritage Festival for a ‘Forgotten Stories’ tour for just $5 in addition to the General Admission price. Tickets can be purchased at the Old Melbourne Gaol Retail Shop.
