Woven Together – Tour the Australian Tapestry Workshop

During the Australian Heritage Festival 2023, the ATW invites you to join us in a series of special guided tours that explores the stories of how this historical craft and contemporary art have been woven together since our establishment in 1976.

While on tour, visitors can observe weavers creating large contemporary tapestries in the ATW’s unique studio setting; view the workings of the colour laboratory where Australian woollen yarns are hand dyed for production; and watch current ATW artist in residence Jacky Cheng. Visitors can also enjoy ATW exhibitions 2022 Artist in Residence Group Show, showcasing new works created by artists in the 2022 ATW residency program, Abstraction Colour and Shape a curated selection of samples and studies from the ATW archives.
