World Heritage Wonders
Explore UNESCO World Heritage listed Parramatta Park, visiting Old Government House, The Dairy and Ranger's Cottages and enjoy light lunch within this beautiful park setting. Hear about people, monuments, events and be amazed about the fantastic history this park has to offer.
Starting at the Dairy and Ranger’s Cottages, within the northern part of Parramatta Park, you will get glimpses into the lives of ex convicts, dairy maids and park rangers and their families who called the buildings their homes. Over time the cottage was extended, a sunken dairy was built, forgotten about and rediscovered in the 1990 ies hidden under the bedroom of the Ranger’s Cottage.
We will walk along the ridge of the Park with interpretation of how the original inhabitants of the area used to live, talk about the usage of the Park in modern times and guide you to a number of monuments, which have their own stories to tell.
Then it is time for light lunch within a most beautiful setting of the Park, just in front of the heritage Rumsey Rose Garden, at the Macquarie Street Gatehouse.
After refreshments we are visiting Old Government House with its own history and stories to tell, this time about the “Elite” of the budding colony.
