Wikipedia edit-a-thon: Picture This

Work with City Historians and experienced Wikipedia editors to increase and improve Sydney-specific Wikipedia articles with historic images sourced from the City Archives collection.

Wikipedia is a free online encyclopedia and the 6th most visited website on the internet. Wikipedia content is created and edited worldwide by volunteer contributors. It has long been acknowledged that there is a lack of diversity among contributors.

People are meeting up across the world to help remedy the imbalance and bias in the diversity of voices on Wikipedia. The City of Sydney Library is joining in, hosting edit-a-thons to increase and improve content relevant to our diverse communities.

Everyone is welcome to join our ‘Picture This edit-a-thon’ workshop led by City Historians Dr Lisa Murray and Laila Ellmoos and supported by experienced Wikipedia editors Toby Hudson and Ann Reynolds. With their help, participants will focus on improving Sydney-specific Wikipedia articles with historic images sourced from the City Archives collection.
