Walking Tour Ballarat CBD

Hear the stories, know the past and walk the beautiful streets of old Ballarat. These two walks concentrate on the old commercial area including- banks, warehouses, shops and the people who lived and worked in them following the gold rushes that made some in Ballarat wealthy.

Your guide will point out the finer details that make these predominantly Victorian, CBD commercial building architectually interesting, and fit for purpose. The discovery of gold made Victoria one of the richest places on the planet where any luxury was available , if you had the money. After the gold rushes while many returned to their homelands others stayed and established a thriving community. This community strived to emenate the best of society in style, status and of course in their buildings and grand streets. Guests such as Mark Twain , Melba and members of the English royalty were suitably impressed.
