Walangari’s Bondi Aboriginal Walking Tour

Join Bondi resident and Aboriginal elder, Walangari Karntawarra on his popular Bondi Aboriginal Walking Tour. See ancient rock carvings and traditional bush foods still growing wild. Hear how Aboriginal people used the area’s bountiful resources and the geological and social history of Bondi.

Originally from Alice Springs, Walangari Karntawarra is an Aboriginal artist, educator, performer and elder of the Arrernte people of Central Australia. Walangari has lived and worked in Sydney for 35 years and delights in sharing his cultural and local knowledge.

His Bondi Aboriginal Walking Tour is a gentle, one and half hour, downhill walk from North Bondi to Bondi Pavilion, on the beach. Everybody has tour guide headsets so that they can hear Walangari’s fascinating live narrative. Walkers see ancient rock carvings and traditional Aboriginal bush foods and medicines still growing wild in beautiful, iconic Bondi. Stopping at points of interest, Walangari relates how Aboriginal people used the area’s bountiful resources and the geological and social history of Bondi. He commences his walk with a didgeridoo ceremony and encourages walkers to ask questions along the way.
