Vivien Dwyer, Artist In Residence

We invite you to visit Singleton Public Library where we are holding an artist-in-residence for the month of May. The residency allows artist, Vivien Dwyer to explore her practice while interacting with community members, sharing stories about local history, heritage, and the arts.

Since moving to Singleton in the 1970s, Vivien Dwyer has created over 40 sketchbooks of watercolours, field studies, and observations much of which focus on natural landscapes and heritage buildings.

As well as working as an artist, Vivien, who is a former primary school teacher, and a group of historians created local history resources for all ages. These resources are specific to the area, they provide the next generation an ability to understand history within the context of an ever-changing Singleton and to feel a sense of belonging as they realise, they too are part of our local story.

Selected works from Vivien Dwyer’s collection will be on display as well as other items from Singleton Public Library’s archives.

To meet with Vivien Dwyer, participate in an informal workshop or observe a talk, please visit Singleton Public Library’s Facebook page or call 02 6578 7568 for more information and bookings.
