Unearthing Ryde: The Story of the Chinese Market Gardens

Unearth the history of the Chinese Market Gardens in Ryde in the late 19th and early 20th centuries! This bilingual event in English and Mandarin will explore the history of the Chinese gardeners and market gardens in the City of Ryde in its early days.

This event will consist of a presentation by our Local Studies Librarian on the history of the Chinese market gardens and gardeners in Ryde. It will be presented in English with Mandarin translation, with the opportunity for attendees to ask questions.

The event is held at Eastwood Library, home to the City of Ryde Seed Library. All attendees are welcome to select a packet of seeds from the seed library (one per attendee) with growing instructions to carry on the rich gardening traditions of our community.
