Turning Points – Celebrating 50 years of Coal Creek

Coal Creek is 50 this year. And as part of the celebrations, we're showcasing artworks and objects in exhibitions throughout the Park, that are here and now but also inform us across time. Visit us to see how the past, present and future connect.

As part of our 50th anniversary celebrations we are holding an exhibition throughout the Park titled: Turning Points. We will showcase documents from the past including early writings about the creation of the Park, as well as news articles throughout the years. Along with these we will share videos and images collected over our 50-year history. Artists from near and far have interpreted the heritage collection, the landscape and the buildings of Coal Creek to show us the present. And we have asked artists to show us what they think South Gippsland, or the World will look like in 50 years’ time. We look forward to seeing you there!

The exhibition will be open from 1 March 2024 to 29 April 2024. We will be holding a 50th anniversary celebration – A Day at the Park, on Saturday 2 March. See our social media for further details.

The Park is open Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday, 10:00am-4:00pm. We are open 7 days a week during Victorian state school holidays. As we are a large open-air museum, last entry to the Park is 3:30pm.

There is no permanent cafe onsite. On general open to the public days, we suggest bringing a picnic with you to enjoy the parkland as well as the exhibits during your visit. Barbecues are not available onsite, there is a public electric barbecue available at a playground nearby at the opposite end of the carpark. There are many food options in the Korumburra and surrounding towns, we encourage you to explore as part of your visit to this beautiful region.

Please wear comfortable walking shoes and appropriate clothing as we are an outdoor, living history museum. The entry and Park are accessible to wheelchairs and walkers but some parts of the Park are quite steep. Please contact us with any queries regarding accessibility prior to your visit – (03) 5655 1811.
