THREADS: The stories we weave

A visual art & heritage exhibition about women, fibre art and textiles. Objects on display include fibre work and paintings from a number of Victorian emerging and well-established artists whose work relates to the theme, as well as collection objects from Coal Creek and South Gippsland Council.

THREADS ‘the stories we weave’ is an exhibition featuring artworks and objects within the theme of women and textiles/fibre arts.

The exhibition will run from 6 March to 8 May 2023 and showcase artworks and objects from the South Gippsland Shire Council and Coal Creek collections, and artists and makers working in the theme.

These objects will be exhibited alongside work by the Coal Creek Spinners and invited artists Sarah Parkes, Cresside Collette and Deborah Klein.

Coal Creek Community Park and Museum and this exhibition is open to the public every day of the school holidays (except Friday 7 April public holiday), 10am to 4pm. Other times we are open Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday, 10am to 4pm.

Parking at Coal Creek is conveniently located near the main entry building. Silkstone road is off South Gippsland Hwy in Korumburra. There is a large location sign and THREADS exhibition sign at the intersection of these two roads.

Main car park has a 4-hour limit, please check signs in surrounding streets when parking. The main building and Park are accessible for people with walking difficulties, walkers, and/or wheelchairs but please note: the Park, has some steep terrain and may be difficult for some people to make their way through. If you have any concerns, please contact us ahead of your visit.
