Thompson Square Uncovered: Talk and Tour
Join this Curator led visit of the new exhibition UNCOVERED followed by a short tour of the sites of Thompson Square and concluding with light refreshments.
This gripping exhibition stems from discoveries during recent archaeological excavations in the Hawkesbury river and Thompson Square area. Discoveries included Aboriginal tools for hunting and fishing, to maritime objects, as well as every day, discarded items of colonial life. These artefacts recovered reveal more than 27,000 years of human history.
Also included in this new exhibition are intricate sections of the brick drainage system dating back to 1814 – 1816 and a digital recreation of some of the earliest remains of a colonial carvel built timber vessel. Come and discover these stories and more in UNCOVERED.
