The Griffins’ Castlecrag Heritage Highlights walking tour

Discover the unique bushland suburb of Castlecrag its curious architecture and its international importance in developing a suburb in harmony with the natural world.

Celebrating the National Trust Heritage Festival 2022 and its theme of curiousity, landscape architect James Smallson is taking this guided tour to discover some of the reserves, walkways, curvilinear roads and house exteriors designed by Walter Burley Griffin.
In 1921 the interconnected system of urban bushland reserves was very innovative and radically different from other suburbs. Today it conserves much of the bushland, rock outcrops and topography of this Middle Harbour peninsula.
