The Barn Whaling Station at Mosman Bay

A journey back to the humble beginnings of the suburb of Mosman where it all began, Archibald Mosman's Whaling Station. The Barn is one the last remaining examples of Early Colonial Maritime Industrial architecture left in Sydney. Enjoy a cup of tea and an historical overview of the Barn.

The Barn started life as a storehouse for the tall ship sails and barrels of oil from the harvesting of whales and ended up as the birthplace of Scouting in Australia. In between The Barn was used as a ballroom, tallow candle factory and much more. Join us for a walk back in history at the humble beginnings of the suburb of Mosman. Enjoy a cup of tea and a discussion on the current custodians, the 1st Mosman 1908 Scout Troop. The oldest troop that saved the oldest building from demolition in 1925.
