The story of 1903 tall ship Alma Doepel service during WW2 in the Australian Army as part of the Army Water Transport (AWT) division of the Royal Australian Engineers (RAE).

Alma Doepel underwent significant modification to convert to her role as troop and supply carrier in the Army Water Transport division of the Australian Army. Learn how the Army turned “cowhands into captains in 16 days”. Learn about the vital role played by local islanders helping these inexperienced crew to navigate the shallow reefs and source fresh food and water.
