Talk and tour THE SEE YUP TEMPLE: IT’S HISTORY AND HERITAGE

Offering two events focused on South Melbourne during the 1850 Victorian Gold Rush. The See Yup Society began in 1854 to look after the arrival of immigrants from Southern China heading for the goldfields. The Temple in Raglan Street, built in 1856, continues to serve its community today.

THE SEE YUP TEMPLE: IT’S HISTORY AND HERITAGE
Join Dr Sophie Couchman for a talk on the history and heritage of the See Yup Society (est.1854) and Temple (built 1856), followed by a special tour of the Temple building and grounds and an introduction to cultural and religious practices by a member of the See Yup Society.
