Storytime in the Park: Let’s discover where our families have travelled from!

Join us for a special StoryTime in the Park where we will explore the theme of travelling. This program is for children 0 to 8 years of age where they will get to sing-a-long with Rocking Russell, as we celebrate our diverse community and heritage.

Did you know over 30% of people living in Hobsons Bay were born overseas? Celebrate Altona’s history of immigration under the 110-year-old heritage listed Moreton Bay Fig at Logan Reserve, Altona. In 1949, 2,000 people from twelve different countries like Poland, Lithuania and Estonia moved to the migrant hostel currently Altona Coastal Park. They lived in Nissen and Quonset huts. Join Hobsons Bay Librarians as they take you on an engaging literacy experience with stories, songs and rhymes. This heritage adventure will explore the world around us as we reflect on the journeys of people who travelled to live here.

Alternate venue in case of rain is Altona Library
