Squatters & the Kerang Big Stations

Discover stories of the squatters in the Kerang region who went on to establish the big pastoral stations of the 1840's. Their history, hard work and stories developed the Kerang we know today

Squatting is a historical Australian term that referred to someone occupying a large tract of Crown land to graze livestock. To learn more about the Squatters of the Kerang region, a static display including maps, stories and photo’s, some rarely seen before will be on display in the Sir John Gorton Library.
