Speaking through Stitches
At a small interactive display of embroidery, stitchers will demonstrate their art and invite you to try out your stitching skills. Marvel over traditional "fancy" work or be surprised by modern textile art at the 1923 Art Deco Wooden Mills, now inhabited by the Little Creatures Brewery.
Stitching tells Stories and the pieces in our mini Embroidery exhibition have lots to say about the lives and interests of traditional and contemporary embroiderers.
You may be surprised to discover pieces that remind you of your family around the dinner table. You may be amazed by the imagination of modern textile artists and their way-out techniques.
You can try out some simple stitching and chat to the stitchers while you watch them work. Find out more about the Embroiderers Guild and our many specialisations from Cross stitch and Canvas work to Eco dyeing and Creative Mark making.
Located inside the Little Creatures Brewery Canteen you can also sample the brews and choose from the yummy snacks on offer.
The Brewery’s home in the 1923 Woollen Mills Buildings is worth seeing and daily tours are available.
