South West Convicts Lecture & Website Launch

Join us on World Heritage Day to celebrate the launch of Jeff Peirce's new online repository of local convict histories!

Join us for the launch of Jeff Peirce’s new website which showcases more than a decade of research on the almost 2000 convicts who had a presence in the South West.

Researcher Jeff and his son Simon, a website development specialist, will present the story behind the evolution of the project and navigate through the key pages of the online site.

Jeff will also share the fascinating life of local ex-convict Joseph Buswell, an illiterate chimney sweep and convicted burglar who went on, together with wife Eliza, to become important business owners in Bunbury.

This is a fabulous opportunity to learn more about the significant role convicts played in the development of Bunbury and surrounding districts, in the Museum built on the site of the Bunbury Convict Hiring Depot!

This is a free event, RSVPs encouraged.
