Riverlife and Romance Exhibition

RIVERLIFE and ROMANCE is a tribute to All The Rivers Run. Stories of the pioneers who played a vital role in the growth of what we now know as the Murray Darling Basin.

Let us share the journey of tragedy love and adventure. Discover how they shaped history along our three longest rivers .

The small screen classic All The Rivers Run will be rolled out as a highlight of the Echuca Historical Society’s RIVERLIFE and ROMANCE exhibition during the 2023 Australian Heritage Festival.

It’s a tribute to the stories of pioneers who played a vital role in the growth of what we now know as the Murray Darling Basin – and highlight many industries associated with river life.

The exhibition will capture the tragedy, love and adventures of the pioneers who shaped the Murray Darling Basin. Legendary figures from the river’s past, such as Pearl Wallace, first female riverboat captain. There is also Hilda Creager, first woman granted a commercial fishing licence, and the paddleboat Etona, first missionary craft on the river system, performing christenings, weddings, and church services. We also have the love and tragedy of riverboat captain Abraham Dusting, who exchanged the most beautiful love letters with his wife. Plus several more stories.
