CANCELLED – Remembering and Commemorating our Mining and Cultural Heritage – Sharing Real Life Experiences of the Nickel Boom and Gold Discoveries of the Eastern Goldfields of WA

A tag-along self drive experience with stays in K-B, Norseman and Widgiemooltha.

If you are seeking a “local” 2024 Adventure then this is the one so join us for a “once in a lifetime” journey across the Eastern Goldfields for an experience of the gold and nickel mining history, the landscapes, geological landforms, Great Western Woodlands and supporting local communities!

Day 1 and 2 – Depart Broomehill Village, Holland Track and Way, Wave Rock (overnight stay) then Coolgardie and Kalgoorlie-Boulder (4 nights)

Day 3 –Eastern Goldfields Historical Society (EGHS), Big Pit, Hannans North Tourist Mine presentations at the Tower Hotel

Day 4 and 5 – Kambalda (Nickel Boom of the 1960’s) St Ives, Redhill Lookout, Silver Lake, next day to “The Old Camp,” Warden Finnerty’s Cottage, Pioneer Cemetery, Bonnievale ( Modesto Varischetti’s rescue) and Nepean Shaft

Day 6 and 7 – Widgiemooltha Golden Eagle, Pioneer Cemetery, Mt Edwards, Caves Hill, Wannaway Well and Dam, abandoned Widgie 3, Wannaway and Redross Nickel mines.

Day 8 and 9 – Norseman, Regent and Crown Underlay Shafts, Indigenous cultural sites (Mt Jimberlana), “Old Dundas Coach Road”, Beacon Hill, Bullen Decline, Norseman Gold Operations, Norseman Historical Museum sundowner on the 130th anniversary of the Norseman Goldfields ((Woodlands Visitor Centre and Lyn Webb’s Art Gallery) and Farewell Dinner.
