Recollection: Stories Sparked by the Whiteman Collection

'Recollection' examines how we form personal connections with objects – taking us away from the historic significance to a more emotional and private place of reflection. Items from the Whiteman Collection will be interpreted through personal stories exploring why these items sparked memories.

Objects in museum collections hold significant histories and noteworthy tales of people and events from the past. While we research and celebrate these histories, often it is the personal memories and emotions that objects can spark within us that truly connect us as human beings and have us wanting to explore more.

Recollection: Stories Sparked by the Whiteman Collection examines how we as individuals form personal connections with objects, where memories of our own past overrule the social, cultural, or scientific significance. In this exhibition, items from the Whiteman Collection will be on display with personal stories from staff and visitors exploring why these items sparked personal responses.

Do you connect with one of the objects on display? What is its significance to you? Take time to reminisce and share your story while you explore our stories at Revolutions Transport Museum.
