Princes Hill History Walk

Explore Princes Hill and hear tales both true and tall. Will you find secrets in the gravestones? Hear the roar of the crowd as your team kicks a goal? Wish you had bought that property in the seventies? Come on an urban walking adventure and share your stories.

Join knowledgeable local historian Jeff Atkinson from the Carlton Community History Group for a walk around this interesting part of Carlton, and hear of its history and the history of iconic places such as Princes Park, the Carlton Football Ground, and the Melbourne General cemetery. Hear stories of past conflicts, and see fine examples of different architectural styles of the late 19th and early 20th centuries. An easy-paced walk on mostly flat ground, however, sensible shoes are recommended for some uneven surfaces, as well as a hat, and water.
