Memories of Musical Lives

Dr. Rosemary Richards co-author of 'Memories of Musical Lives: Music and Dance in Personal Music Collections from Australia and New Zealand' will discuss the essays that make up this most important and informative book, recently published by Lyrebird Press

Dr. Rosemary Richards has had a long personal affiliation with the McCrae Homestead through her admiration for Georgiana McCrae’s musical interests. In 2005 Rosemary published ‘Frae the Friends and Land I Love’ based on Georgiana’s handwritten collection of music. Rosemary will discuss the diversity of music and dance collections discovered in libraries, archives and private homes in Australia and New Zealand while researching material for their book, a major focus of which, relates to the depth of interest early settlers took to keep music and dance in their lives. Following Rosemary’s discussion, afternoon refreshments will be served.
