Labassa Women

Join us as we celebrate the women who lived at Labassa over two centuries. Take a walk through time and experience some of these stories as told through imagery, costume and objects. Explore the extraordinary, ordinary and sometimes invisible lives these women lived.

Over 700 people have lived at Labassa, the majority of whom were women. Labassa Women is a seven-day celebration of their lives across two centuries – glamorous socialites, intrepid trailblazers and those rendered invisible through domesticity and divorce. Take a walk through time and experience some of these stories as told through imagery, costume and object. Meet Vicki Shuttleworth, author of Labassa: House of Dreams, and hear more about how these women contributed to the mansion’s unique history, lifestyle and survival. The exhibition Launches with a special event on eth 1st May with Jane Clifton, actor and Labassa woman.
