Illuminated Addresses of Bathurst – a Curatorial Talk

How did we honour and commemorate persons and events of prominence or importance
before the humble certificate?

How did we honour and commemorate persons and events of prominence or importance before the humble certificate? Illuminated addresses were once a popular way and an important element to celebrate achievements and to thank individuals for their contribution to an organisation. Beautifully handwritten and adorned with ornate illustrations depicting the recipient’s history. Come and view examples of the artistry of the illuminated addresses with Kim Bagot-Hiller and hear about the art form, the people who were honoured, and the events they commemorate. A temporary exhibition will run in the month of May. Light refreshments available.
