Heritage Walking ToursBerkeley Pioneer Cemetery Restoration Group

Heritage Walking Tours

Take a trip back in time and learn more about the families that helped shape the Illawarra. In Unanderra's quaint but wonderfully kept historic Berkeley Pioneer Cemetery, the Restoration Group is holding talks on Sunday 21st April 2017, between 1pm to 3pm.

Established in 1862 as a cemetery for the Jenkins family. William Jenkins donated one acre of land to the Church of England for a church and burial ground. The cemetery is now an Anglican cemetery which has been restored by the Berkeley Pioneer Cemetery Restoration Group with help from Wollongong City Council, local businesses and organisations. The gates erected at the entry to the cemetery are the historic gates from the entrance of Berkeley mansion (homestead of William Jenkins).
