Heirlooms of the Future

This exhibition displays the work by local textile and embroidery group, Loose Threads. They use traditional techniques with a contemporary interpretation, demonstrating excellence in embroidery, confidence in design and a love of textiles.

This will be the third time that this group has exhibited at Crawford House Museum, the previous time being in 2012. The work for this exhibition has been completed during the last four years. Traditional techniques with a contemporary interpretation will be one of the themes investigated, as well as works based on or inspired by “collections”. Presently members of the group are creating work close to their hearts as they respond to the idea of making that one piece that has always eluded them. These new works demonstrate excellence in embroidery, confidence in design and more importantly a love of textile arts.
