Hartley Historic Village and the Lost Inn Heritage Walk

Join your expert and experienced National Trust tour guide Huckleberry Campbell for an informative and entertaining wander back in time to the origins of Hartley Historic Village and its monumental courthouse.

Hear the stories of why such a grand building was built here and about the planning for a grand new town on the banks of the River Lett.

From the construction of Sir Thomas Mitchell’s 1832 Great Western Road when he first proposed the village, to the first land grant given to Pierce Collits who built Hartley’s first building, the Royal Garter Inn, to the construction of the Hartley Court House and the subsequent village that grew around it, learn how from great promise, Hartley was to be left behind in the development of the Colony and become one of the best preserved Colonial villages in Australia today.

This unique walk has never been offered before.
