Greenbushes Community Mining Heritage Festival
Explore the history of the first tin mining town of Greenbushes in Western Australia, with ambles, walks, displays and mining activity type skills competition.
Greenbushes is where tin was first discovered in Western Australia in 1886 and mined in 1888.
The Greenbushes orebody is unique and also contains half of the world’s hard rock Tantalum and more recently is the world’s largest lithium producer.
The Discovery Centre will be open with free access to the interactive displays which includes a mock underground mine. There will be guided walks around town, talks at Mine Lookout, displays and refreshment in the Mine Heritage Park.
For the more adventurous there will be mining type activities where one can test their skills against each other.
