Fremantle Through the Lens

Explore the historic films and life and times of Sir Frederick Samson .

Genrefonix is proud to collaborate with the Samson Family History Group and the State Library of Western Australia to present these films.

Sir Frederick Samson was a successful businessman and was elected to the Fremantle City Council in 1936. This gave him unique access to the comings and goings of the town as the world prepared for war.

Through Freddy’s exquisite 16mm lens audiences will witness ordinary people preparing for an extraordinary war, as well as many other scenes of historical interest from the 1930s to 1970s.

Genrefonix is proud to collaborate with the Samson Family History Group and the State Library of Western Australia to present these films.
