Focus on Furniture at Rippon Lea
Rippon Lea’s grand hallways and varied domestic interiors contain an eclectic array of furnishings spanning various design styles from the mid-nineteenth century through to the post WWII period. Curious to find out more? Take this tour for an in-depth look at key pieces from the collection.
Join one of our experienced volunteer guides for a tour focusing on several period pieces from the collection, including the Louis XV and XVI revival drawing room furniture and the original 1930s American oak dining room suite specially commissioned for the property’s last owner, Mrs. Louisa Jones.
Rippon Lea’s locally sourced timber and manufactured furniture will also be discussed in detail, including examples of Australian cedar pieces, and a Huon pine chest of drawers made by an experienced furniture manufacturer from Clunes, Victoria in the 1890s.
The tour concludes with the superb international award-winning Australian myrtle-beech Queensland maple bedroom suite made by H Goldman Manufacturing Company, La Trobe Street, which currently takes pride of place in Rippon Lea’s master bedroom.
