Finding Your Roots

Are you curious about your family’s history and want to learn more about your ancestors? Join us for an introductory workshop on tracing your family roots using library resources.

Led by our Local Studies Librarian, this workshop will guide you through the process of finding and accessing Ancestry.com, Trove, and other sources to uncover your family’s past.

In this workshop you will learn:

  • How to use library catalogues and databases to search for family records
  • Tips for interpreting data and records
  • Strategies for organising and documenting your research
  • How to identify and overcome common research obstacles

Whether you’re just starting or have a hit a roadblock in your research, this workshop is designed to help you unlock the mysteries of your family’s history.

About Local Studies:

Our Local Studies Team support the preservation and promotion of the Georges River Council through the research and collection of local historical materials such as maps, photographs and newspapers to gain a deeper understanding of our history, culture, and community.
