Family History Tour

Whether you are interested in Western Australian social history or family history in WA and beyond, this tour and talk for beginners will give you an overview of the sort of records available to assist you in your research.

Join subject specialists for tours of the Genealogy Centre and the J S Battye Library of West Australian History that take you behind the scenes. You will have a chance to learn where you can find original documents, both public and private, and the type of information you may find within them.

Hear about the many free online databases that the State Library provides and discover some of the historical treasures that the library has digitised. The tour will highlight some of the key resources for family history in both collections. You may even learn some new stories about your own family and local community.

Similar tours run the first Wednesday of each month February to November, though they don’t offer the same behind the scenes content.
