A Rare Example of Egyptian Revival Architecture

Launceston boasts one of the few remaining examples of Egyptian revival architecture in Australia and you've probably walked past it a hundred times without noticing.

With its Hebrew inscription high on its trapezoidal frame, the Launceston Synagogue in St John Street is one of the CBD’s most mysterious structures. It is the second oldest in Australia and was consecrated in 1846. Our open day will give you the opportunity to enjoy the atmosphere and architecture of this amazing building.
