Family History: Curious about your family’s past?
Curious about your criminal ancestors? Keen to learn more about where you came from? Let us help you unravel your family history!
As part of the Australian Heritage Festival, specialist staff from Kim barne thaliyu / Geelong Heritage Centre will be visiting Geelong Regional Libraries’ branches including Corio, Drysdale, Lara and Torquay to run family research sessions.
With television shows like ‘Who do you think you are?’ and ‘Every family has a secret’, more and more people are interested in learning about their family’s history. If you are curious to learn whether your family have any secrets, you are warmly invited to attend a session run by specialist staff from Kim barne thaliyu / Geelong Heritage Centre.
We will deliver a presentation followed by time for questions and one-on-one support. One of two presentations will be on offer:
• Introduction to researching your family history (Corio, Drysdale, Lara)
• Delve deeper into family history research with DNA (Torquay)
In the Introduction session you will learn about where you can undertake your research and how Kim barne thaliyu / Geelong Heritage Centre can support your research journey. The DNA research session will give you an opportunity to delve deeper into your research; it is for those who have already begun the research journey and are keen to take their research to the next level
