Curious about modernist sculpture? Explore the legacy of Karl Duldig’s work in Malvern East

Explore our current exhibition, 'The Studio of Karl Duldig - a Living Legacy.' Take an insightful guided tour of the original heritage rooms and Artists' Studio and enjoy a Viennese afternoon tea.

The Duldig Studio + sculpture garden in Malvern East is an Artists’ Studio and house museum established in 1996. It is the former home of sculptor Karl Duldig (1902 – 1986), and his wife Slawa Horowitz-Duldig (1902 – 1975). It has a nationally significant collection that comprises works of art including sculpture in a variety of media, drawings, paintings and an important collection of hand crafted pottery. There is also a substantial archival material detailing the family’s history in Europe, Singapore and Australia.

Enjoy a fascinating tour, given by our dedicated volunteer guides and see the sculptures, furniture and paintings saved from pre-war Vienna and learn how the family re-established their lives and careers in Australia.

Understand the scope of Karl’s artistic practice over 50 years – feel the presence of the artist in his original 1960s Studio.
