Curious about Churchill Island? Tipping Dray Restoration

Churchill Island offers a tranquil setting to explore the beautiful gardens, historic Amess House and farming precinct on this majestic little island located off the coast of Phillip Island. Curious to find out more? Come join us to hear about the restoration of a wonderful tipping dray.

With the support of the Friends of Churchill Island Society and our wonderful volunteers, a derelict old tipping dray has undergone an amazing restoration within Amess Barn. Tipping drays were known as the ‘Ute’ (utility) of the horse-drawn world, and this dray has been carefully restored using both original parts and new materials forged in our Blacksmiths Workshop on Churchill Island. Come see the restoration of our tipping dray and and hear from our volunteers about the fascinating journey to rebuild it.
