Coal Mines Historic Site

The Coal Mines Historic Site is a great place to journey to and discover on foot. Learn the history of this place as you walk the paths and tracks around the site and read the stories of some of the people who lived and worked here. Explore the settlement ruins, which once included stone prisoner’s barracks and punishment cells, a chapel, bake house and store as well as quarters for the commanding officer, surgeon and soldiers. Guided tours are available by contacting Port Arthur Historic Site.
