Celebrating Ballarats Architectural Decorative Glass
Victorian to Art Deco Glass. Observe beautiful examples of leadlight entries and windows from the warmth of your car while you drive a planned route. Residents will be encouraged to light their leadlights from dusk till 10pm.
Supporting the UNESCO Year of Glass, the Ballarat Branch of the National Trust has asked residents to light their leadlights in the evening to showcase the stunning array of domestic decorative glass in the City of Ballarat. Over three weekends participants will be able to drive following a route where many examples of decorative glass from the Victorian through to the Art Deco period are located. All residents with examples of leadlight glass facing the street are asked to light their entries, and windows from dusk till 10pm. While the tour will suggest sites where there are many examples, we encourage all residents to take advantage of this time of heightened awareness and take part lighting up or driving.
