PAST EVENT

Canning Through A Camera Lens

A display of historic images from the City of Canning local history photograph collection. Early settlers, local suburbs, shopping, schools, people, community groups from early days through to our thriving 21st century city.

Have a look at the on-screen display of photos that showcase Canning from the early days through to current times. The history of the area has been captured through the camera lens over the decades. Canning in the 1960s onwards has experienced impact, change and progress. Cow paddocks have become lively suburbs and narrow roads have turned into major thoroughfares. Photos also include maps and posters promoting the area; and the 1906 real estate map advising that there is a good bus service and “trams eventually”.  We’re still waiting!!
