Barker’s Bountiful Backstory

Visitors are encouraged to seek out hidden stories, and embark on a journey through history, as your guide reveals tales from the Barker College Archives as you wander through the Barker Heritage Precinct.

You are invited to tour the Barker College Heritage Precinct with the aid of the Barker Heritage Trails app to provide interactive then and now photographs, archival images, architectural information and hidden stories to suit your interests. The School’s Senior Archivist will guide you through the site and is happy to answer any questions you might have.

Barker College dates its history back to 1890 in Kurrajong Heights. In 1895 the School’s owner and Headmaster began his plan to relocate the school to Hornsby, by purchasing a sizeable 2-acre plot of land facing Peats Ferry Road. Over a period of almost 130 years, the school campus has grown to over 45 acres. The beautiful campus sitting proudly on Dharug land is home to a rich built history and is full of stories waiting to be shared.
