Ball and chain trilogy
Ball and chain trilogy is celebrating the three populations who inhabited the Avon valley, The first people, settlers and convicts left behind many marvellous stories, gorgeous art and delightful music. You are invited to the historic York Courthouse Complex to relive history through stories, music and poems.
1- In his full trooper uniform, Leigh Carmichael – a retired police man himself – will take us every Saturday morning at 11 am for the trooper tour. A real accurate account of life in York, emphasising Trooper and convict life.
2 – Every Sunday at 11 am enjoy the extraordinary story of Dr Henry Landor, whose quest to heal himself led him to be a discoverer, a pioneer breeder and a magistrate. His experience in WA crystallised his human-loving nature. Come and learn about this unique philanthropist.
3 – Ball and Chain, a musical, will take place on the open air stage in the Courthouse stables. Again, we celebrate the three populations through music, poems and story telling from 7 pm. Please BYO and share this event with us.
4 – The Courthouse Museum and Art Galleries opened in February 2022. Comprising 12 galleries, the main court room, the historic convict built court of petty crimes, the stables and the trooper cottage. We are open Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 10am to 4pm.
