Art Journeys at the York Residency Museum
Plein air painting is the act of painting outdoors. You may be familiar and already hooked to this practice or just want to try it for the first time. We invite you to come along to the Residency Museum grounds, pitch your easel and have a go. A tour of our art collection will round off the day.
10 – 10.30am Introduction by local artist Andrea Flint with morning tea provided.
Andrea Flint is our invited artist and creative mentor on site for the day. Andrea will tell us about her journey in art so far. She will be available to paint and draw on site with the group and to assist others as requested. Join us to learn from Andrea’s artistic experiences and technique, and to expand your own.
1 to 1.30pm Guided tour and talk by museum curator Annie Q. Medley of local artworks in the museum collection.
Art assists us to understand and document our experiences and our view of the world. In historical museums, these shared visual stories, play an important role in capturing evidence of past places, events and people. Join our curator Annie Q. Medley as she discusses works from the collection and the stories they reveal about the historic town of York.
