Art Deco Buildings in Boroondara

Explore some of the examples of Art Deco architectural buildings throughout the local area of Boroondara

Art Deco works are typically symmetrical with geometric patterns. The era flourished in the optimism of the 1920s and diminished in the economic downturn and political turmoil of the following decades. This short-lived style is one of the most recognisable architectural and design movements.

The ‘Art Deco’ movement was represented in many City of Boroondara buildings. Many of those buildings, both residential and public, still stand today. In this presentation we’ll look at some of Boroondara’s Art Deco buildings: both images of those that no longer exist and those we can still see and enjoy today.
