Apprentice Archaeologists for Kids

Archaeology unearths hidden stories from our past, much like cold case detective work brings to light the truth about past crimes.

See how it works in this exciting set of hands-on activities.

Children from 7-11 years old will have the opportunity to try their hand at some archaeological investigation and recording.

We’ll also visit a significant colonial archaeological site to discover the truth about life in a convict hospital. There you will spend time with a real archaeologist who worked on this site. You will discover how archaeologists study sites and artefacts to reveal the details of past lives.

Bookings are essential. Please arrive 15 minutes prior to start time, for registration. Wear comfortable shoes. Bring a hat, water, snacks and sunblock.
