60th Anniversary Celebrations

Visit Historical Walcha's Pioneer Cottage and Museum complex and help us celebrate 60 years of the Walcha & District Historical Society Inc.
Learn about our history and your connections to Walcha at the Family History Centre talks.

Come along to our Open Days and see a range of Vintage and Classic cars and motorcycles. Enjoy our fabulous high tea and garment display, imagine flying in the Tiger Moth Aeroplane housed in it’s own special Hangar, and explore the machinery barn and wonder at the machinery used in the past, with many “cordless” tools on display in the tool room.
Take to the grounds as you explore, marvelling at the steam engine, horse drawn cart and road building implements. Smell the grease from the wool in the Wool Hall. Try to envisage raising a family in the Cottage built in 1862 by Walcha’s first policeman, and be thankful for modern medicine when you look at the instruments used in years gone by. Take a little time to remember our brave soldiers as you appreciate the collection in the war room, then take a rest and enjoy a delicious Devonshire Tea in the shade of an elm tree.
We aim to conserve and preserve memorabilia from Walcha’s settlement, and your attendance will help us to continue this into the future.
