The No 1 Pump Station Mundaring stands at the foot of Mundaring Weir and provides an opportunity to explore one of Australia’s most significant industrial heritage sites.

The Year 2 curriculum extends exploration of the similarities between the past and the present.  No 1 Pump Station lends itself to an interrelated study of history, encompassing the study of a significant place and people as well as changes in technology.  Also included is a study of the importance of water, examining water sources, how water is used and conserved.

A visit to No 1 Pump Station will stimulate students’ curiosity about how water changes, moves and flows. It will contribute to their appreciation of the value of water and its various uses.

Comprehensive pre and post visit activity suggestions, comprising a detailed Teacher’s Guide and Student Booklet, will further enhance and consolidate student learning.
